My turbo snail was killed

Postby lin » 21 Jan 2009, 19:33

I found his insides stuffed under part of a rock!

A couple of weeks ago, I thought two snails were mating, their sticky parts were together. but he/she was all pulled out of the shell and my grandson brought up all he squishy parts out of the tank.

Now I wonder did one kill the other, it wasnt mating, it was fighting? the other one is very active.

another question. I found what looked like a child had taken a pink crayon and put a mark about 2 inches long on the lower front side of tank. In fact, I actually did think one of my grandkids had done it, until I got ready to clean it off. I wiped it off with my little tank brush and it fell apart quickly and was gone in the water. Any idea what that may have been?

Oh.... I just had a bad thought............snail babies??????????????

It could have been snail eggs, as far as the snail coming out of the shell, I have had several of mine die in this manner. It is not unusual for them to die and a fish or crab drag it out of the shell to eat it.

Thats ok, they generally die off anyhow, or something else eats them.
