New To Hobby

Postby Jabr The Hop » 16 Jul 2009, 08:35

I am new to the tropical fish game and have had a 125ltr tank running sucsesfully for 6 months and up to this point had no fish leave me.I have just had my female dwarf neon gurami die but somehowe lodge herself to do this in a small hole at the bottom of my 1/2 inch thick background.I have tryed everything to get her out but disturb the tank way to much each time and still cant get in to get her out.I have been informed if she rots she will poisen the water hence hopeing joining this site will help me with this issue as in if this is true?,what do i do?.I hope to also learn of more experianced fish keepers in enhancing the hobby i enjoy.

Many Thanks

Hello Jabr and welcome to the forum!

I am sorry to hear about your loss and troubles. Personally, I think it would be best if you could get your lost fish out of the tank, but if you simply cannot get her, then you might be able to avoid some major problems by performing water changes more frequently...perhaps somewhere in the range of 5 gallons (18 liters, I think) a day. This way, you would be removing the pollutants from the tank without stressing your other fish too much. Again, that wouldn't be the most ideal solution, but still a solution that would be far better than doing nothing.

Again, welcome to the forum! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask because we have some amazing hobbyists here!
