Yes it is, althought this one is a poor looking one, nothing like the normal powder brown tangs we generally see.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was my next guess! but as you said, it doesnt look like other powder browns! nicely done! that one was a bit challenging.

Wow, I guess that was a good guess then. I don't think I've ever seen one quite as bad as this, but I've noticed a few powder brown tangs that looked pretty rough at one LFS in particular. If you posted everything but the eye, I'm sure I would have guessed that it was a Kole tang.
